HP rolls out Touch Smart IQ 500

By: Rahul Gupta

HP has taken the iPod Touch, and the iMAC, and blown it up to build the HP Smart Touch. After exactly 2 months of its first launch in Berlin, HP finally announced the launch of their Touch Smart PC IQ 500 in India. Featuring a sleek, new design, the second-generation HP Touch Smart PC provides a friendly, fun approach to personal computing. A new, natural interface is activated by the tap or stroke of a finger. Photos and music collections can be displayed in tiles or like a fan for fast access. Photos can be enhanced and uploaded and videos can be captured and posted to social networking sites in a flash, without using a keyboard. The PC being all touch-sensitive the high-definition, 22-inch diagonal widescreen PC is ENERGY STAR qualified.

“Our Fingers are the best pointing devices in the world, the most sensitive to feeling, and a wonderful tool to work with” This is what Mr. Richard Walker, Sr Vice President, Consumer PC Business Unit,  said was the whole idea behind developing the Touch Smart PC IQ 500. He also added  “this is the first time a touch screen this size has been launched, doing a touch screen on a small screen is easy, but this big (20") is a little difficult”.

"We will have this in stores in the next 2 weeks, though primarily starting with the Class A cities in India, down the road we would have it available in all our 200 odd HP World stores across India. The price point is expected to be Sub 90K", commented Rajiev Grover, Director Consumer Products - PSG HP.

Apart from being very easy to use the Touch Smart PC IQ 500 packs a Core2Duo processor and dedicated graphics to provide the most attractive User Interface. Moreover the prime focus of the product remains at a varied audience looking for entertainment and work to be like a lifestyle statement.
